A Russian man in a wheelchair has built a solar elevator for disabled so that he can take the elevator to the third floor apartment, the Metropolitan Daily reported. The man’s name is Alexander Yudin, 69 years old. He was an electrical engineer before, but he lost a leg in a car accident. Alexander didn’t want to live on others, so he began to develop a device that could use a winch to transport him and his wheelchair directly to the third floor. This is his only solution, because the property in his community does not provide special access for the disabled, and the stair spacing is too narrow for the width of his wheelchair.
Alexander thought for a long time to solve this problem. The video clip released by the inside edition of the news broadcast news magazine program shows the operation process of his solar elevator for disabled. Alexander said in an interview with the media: “I don’t want to lie at home all day, waiting for something to happen, waiting for someone to deliver food to me, or standing still, I can only sit on the balcony and look out. So I made a special elevator.”
The elevator directly transported Alexander from the ground to the balcony through the safety belt, and several climbing buckles were clamped on the chassis of his wheelchair. The power source of the elevator is the solar panel fixed on the roof. A netizen commented, “no matter how old you are, as long as you can maintain confidence and keep inventing, you can accomplish some great things.”
